Deine Rolle Als dritter Engineer bist du "the first hire that shapes how we grow". Du arbeitest über die gesamte Plattform – vom Java/Angular-Backend bis zum AI-Dokumentenprozessing in Python. Du baust CI/CD-Pipelines und stärkst unsere Engineering-Grundlagen.

We are Paxly, a B2B SaaS startup based in Leipzig. We connect packaging buyers with suppliers through our smart procurement platform – think of it as the missing link between “I need 1,000,000 cardboard boxes” and “here’s the best supplier for your specs.”
We have hit product-market fit, have paying customers, and now we our looking to scale. Not just the product, also the engineering team.
Three founders. Torsten is our packaging industry expert – he knows the domain inside out. Klaus and Hendrik are seasoned entrepreneurs with a track record of building and scaling companies. We have done this before. This time, we are doing it in packaging.
Right now, our tech team is tiny: one senior developer and our CTO. We are not a 50-person engineering org with layers of process. We are two people who ship things.
That is where you come in.
You will be the third engineer – but really, the first hire that shapes how we grow. You will work across our main platform (Java/Angular) and touch our AI-powered document processing system (Python). You will help us build CI/CD pipelines, improve test coverage, and strengthen our engineering foundations.
This is not a “implement tickets from Jira” role. You ‘ll have opinions. You’ll push back. You’ll help us decide what to build, not just how.
Back-end: Java 17, Dropwizard, PostgreSQL
Front-end: Angular 16+
Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3), Docker, Redis
Side quest: Python/FastAPI
You don’t need all of it. Java + Angular is the core. The rest you can learn.
3+ years of professional development experience
Strong in Java or a similar back-end language
Comfortable with Angular (or willing to get comfortable fast)
You’ve worked with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
You’ve touched CI/CD, Docker, or cloud infrastructure
You take ownership – “not my code” isn’t in your vocabulary
Bilingual: English (professional), German (B2+)
You know when to use AI coding tools – and when to write it yourself
Experience with modern AI approaches (LLMs, prompt engineering, AI-assisted workflows)
Python experience
AWS knowledge
You’ve worked in a small team or startup before
Leipzig preferred, remote acceptable. Workation in EU possible.

55.000 - 75.000€ depending on your experience.
